I don't have a life and am here all day with all these other guys, and some girls (Gwen). But I didn't write any of those guides, any praise should go to fasfrank.
I looked through the guides but there wasnt anything for using only dvd decrypter to back up dvd's. Is it possible to back up a dvd by reading (ISO mode) and saving to it my computer and then write the file (ISO) to a blank dvd?
@bestmiller, using the guides I provided to you is how I obtained my knowlege, I followed them to the letter and I now know how to tackle problems that seemed to me to be impossible. Follow the guides and you WILL find your solution. As for the image what I do is right click on image, go to properties, highlight the URL address click control c, then ok ..once you have done that you place the url between
i think if you just hit "Prnt Scrn" on your keyboard and go to Paint (from start - all programs - accessories- paint) and hit paste (or ctrl v), you get the screen and just cut the image you want.
lets say i want to copy dvd decrypter (using your method). i right clicked everything but i couldnt find properties. where do i click to find properties?
When you right click the image, a box will appear, properties is at the bottom of this box. Your other method does NOT work.
@bestmiller, well if your way and then why are you wasting my time by disagreeing with me. I suggest you use what works for you. I have been trying to assist you but you keep going off on a tangent, lets try to fix 1 problem at a time before tackling another.
Is it possible to burn a dvd by using dvd decrpyter only? First, you "read" the disc (ISO) and save it to your computer. After you save the files, you write them to a blank dvd. Would this work?
@bestmiller, have you actually read any guides that I have provided? All the relevent information you require is in these guides so for now I will say Have a Merry Christmas.
hey gwendolin...sorry about that. It's just that whenever I click on the guides theres so much info to read that I just want 1 thing answer. Ill take a look at them for now on and other things. Thanks for the help tho.
There is no short and sweet answer. The guides are long and thorough, but easy to follow. I think what you are looking for is for someone to hold your hand and walk you through every process to create a backup. Everyone in this thread have been more than patient, so please read the guides provided...if you still are having problems, don't hesitate to ask. To answer your question, Yes. And no. If you are using double layer discs to backup on, then the answer is yes. Rip to HDD using DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode. Then select the MDS file for the burn. Make sure that you choose the MDS file as it contains the layer break information. If you are using single layer media to backup to, then the answer is no, unless of course the movie that you are backing up will fit to a DVD-5 without compression. Otherwise, you will need to compress the image that DVD Decrypter created in order for it to fit onto one DVD-5. Please read the guides in my sig...or any other guides that have been provided for you, and post back on your success or failure. You will either be given praise for a job well done, or help to complete your project.
I just got a new computer and I was wondering what are its capabilities. I searched the web but i think that since the burner might be new, i couldnt find much information. I have two drives but im not sure if they are both dvd burners. Here is the make and model: Device type: HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8146B Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives) the other drive: Device type: Philips DVD+-RW DVD8701 Manufacturer: (Standard CD-ROM drives)
quick question...does anyone know how to open "device management". I know you go to start - run then type cmd (command prompt) but i forget what to type after. can any1 help me?
@Bestmiller, I am just posting this one post. It seems to me what was said earlier by locoeng is correct, you want someone to hold your hand and tutor you in everything about computers/dvd backups. In my case, I wanted someone to do the same, but what I did was when someone gave a guide about a prog, I scanned it then started experimenting with the program. Usually, I was pretty good with what I was trying to do within a few days. I don't recommend that if you have a small budget, as I have gone through 3 dvd+-r/w/dl/rom/ combo drives and hundreds of discs. What I DO recomend is this: 1) Post relevent questions in relevent threads in relevent forums. (this thread was originally about dvd media and the best one(s) for your drive, now your asking about your new comps specs) 2) Take the advice that has been given by each member and write down the highpoints/links. (that way you have a perm. record should your computer unexpectedly crash etc..) 3) Follow the above mentioned advice as it was given and to the letter. (the purpose of the site, to my knowledge, is to help people figure out how do different things, not to tell them what to do) 4) Dont repeat/ask more questions until you have spent time reading AND following the guides/advice (and that wonderfull thing called experimenting... if you just keep asking how to do something over and over again, people will think all you want is handouts etc.. and thats never good to have as your rep.) 5) Then, after you have done all that, failed, take a break and try again. If still having trouble, then ask and you will be able to specify exactly what trouble you are having and will also have more knowledge about the process and therefor understand what people mean when they reply. Happy Holidays chrialex p.s. right click on my computer on the desktop and choose manage...
i have a dvd (dodgeball) but its about 8.5 gbs. I want to back it up but i only have a dvd-rw 4.7gb dvd. what should be my next step? should i use dvdshrink to compress it?
