I am very new to burning DVD's but am having a lot of fun w/ it. Is there any advantages or disadvantages of these two formats, my computer is very new and can use either. Thanks in advance.

The only difference that matters is if your stand alone player reads +r's. Some of the older ones perfer - r's.

I always buy -r because they are the same price as the +r and they tend to play on more dvd players./

This means if you want to play your burned dvd on your friend's/relative's older dvd player, you would be better off with a -r.

Again, I don't see any reason to use dvd+r since the price is not a factor, and as far as I can tell, there is no quality difference.
