I've never used the Xtremer so I can't comment on it. The WD TV Live Hub or WD TV Live Plus will be great to get if you don't plan on playing anything over 720p. Yes it can play 1080p, but it's still not the smoothest, but 720p content it can play flawlessly. Or if you have money to burn, and you also want a Blu-ray/or DVD player, 3D, and 1080p, maybe take a look at ASRock's Vision 3D series.

    Thanks Mike.
I looked at the WD live and it seams very good.
But I should have mentioned that I also would like one with network connection so
I can stream live sports from pc to tv too.
The asrocks one unfortunatly is way out of my budget .
    And idea's !

    vlc

    k-lite full

xbmc - either as an app in windows or download sabayon install disc where you can select xbmc as tho it was a OS in dual boot (on boot grub menu gives choice of boot to windows or to xbmc) downside to sabyon xbmc is it can only read fat32 or ext formatted hdd's,installed to windows can read fat & ntfs

    cyberlink power dvd

i have been using VLC to watch movies at the moment since it can play almost all sort of movies that I have downloaded. And also when it comes to my video editing projects I test and try them on VLC.
