I have Intel 865GV Motherboard (Having AGP interface only), Pentium 4 with Hyper Threading Technology (HT) Processor 2.8 GHz (This processor has pins) and 512 MB DDR RAM. Now I've Purchased a XFX 8600GT Graphics Card which requires x16 PCI-Express Slot. So I want to upgrade my Motherboard to support this graphics card without changing my processor though I can change my RAM to DDR2 if required. So which Motherboard should I purchase as the current gen Motherboards (like 915, 945, 965 etc) are not compatiple with my processor.
Please suggest a motherboard which will solve my problem.

this is kind of a quick answer so wait for other responses, but I'm almost positive your CPU is a 478 socket... motherboards these days all use LGA 775... The only one I was able to find is on newegg website that has socket 478 AND PCIE is... You'll need to buy DDR2 ram with this mobo.

not sure about quality, etc. as I said wait for other responses to be sure.

Buying a socket 478 board now is crazy, might as well upgrade the ram, mobo and cpu to todays level,it wont cost much about $230

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard $99.99

Highly recommended motherboard. Doesn't have RAID, but you don't need that.

    Intel Pentium E2160 1.8GHz is a great cpu $82

    OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $45

You now have a decent little rig, with a mobo that loves overclocking

I agree with that. Upgrading a SKT478 system is a false economy.
