    Hi all,
I am yet another newbie in learning to backup my DVD's. I have used DVD decrypter 3.2.2.0 to decrypt a DVD and have a 7.5G ISO file on my hard drive. How do I compress this to fit onto a DVD and what could I use to compress. I have Nero, DVD shrink, IFOedit and CloneDVD……..I know these will these help me, but which one for this particular question?

    Cheers.

    Snorks,

I've never used IFOedit, so I'll skip that one. Now you've got DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and Nero ... that's all you need.

    Use these combinations:

Shrink to rip and compress, Nero to burn (video_ts files)

Shrink to rip and compress, Decrypter to burn (ISO files)

The only time you need to use Decrypter to rip first, is if Shrink can't get past the encryption. So in your case you ripped with decrypter, then use Shrink to compress. If you create and ISO use Decrypter to burn, and if you create a video_ts file use Nero.

Also you can get DVD43(free) or AnyDVD($39) and just use Nero's Recode 2.

Your last post is leading to Nero Recode, isn't it? Well you're absolutely right, if one has Nero Ultra than DVD Shrink is redundant. Both have been worked on by the same author but recode offers a quicker encode and burn solution as well as better editing features.

    Thanks For that Flip.

Big Orange i have Nero Express ver5.5

I might try to compress the iso file with Shrink then.
I would just have to point it to the right location, is that right?

Eazy VCD is the best software for burning DVD's without a DVD burner. It is a one click tool, that does everything. It outputs fairly good quality on 1-3 cds, depending on the length.

If you're looking to play them on a stand alone player then Hunter007's given you a very good solution (how I got started). If you don't care about using a stand alone player then a home theater compatible DiVx recording would be a better solution, because it offers a better picture.

That being said, why not just invest in a DVD burner, I've seen them for as low as $70 and one of the best the Pioneer DVR-107d can be bought for $85 at newegg.com.

I have a question since I am new to this. Can I use Nero to burn ogm files? And will the finial result have sub title when I play it in a dvd player. The ogm files that I want to burn to a dvd has subtitle when I play them in window media player by using vobsub, ogm filter, and sub filter. Will the final result have subtitle on it. Please help me. thanks in advance.
