Too late brian we've already teased him with that one. Have you checked out mainconcept?

Not had the chance to look at mainconcept. Any luck yourself? Does it compare with CCE basic?

It seems to be CCE's direct competition and some say that it's better in certain areas such as progressive films. I haven't tried it yet but its been calling to me (and my wallet). I'm betting that MackemX has tried it and perhaps he can give us his opinion.

I came across it while researching applications that work with CCE and I found myself running into Mainconcept as the suggested alternative.

    Interesting.

I think I will have to explore this app a little closer. Thanks for the head up.

Brian, That's a better price than what I saw it for. I wish you guys would quit tempting me, I am of a weak nature. No will power whatsoever. I think I'll have to say no! Damn, it's speed looks very impressive from the guide! Hmmmm........ maybe just a little trial to check it out?

Mainconcept is $249. or at least the one I'm looking at is and without the teacher's discount Procoder is $499. I'm looking to see if mainconcept has a teachers discount and if it does it's mine.

I can get the teacher's discount, heh heh. I thought procoder was higher, but brian's link is for procoder express for 60.00. Did you look at that?

Mainconcept seems to have the same needs as CCE, in fact they're both touted as being plugins for Adobe premier. I'll check brians link.

Soph, I'm thinking like CCE SP/CCE Basic is to procoder/procoder express. If this is the case it might be worth checking out for 60.00. It looks to be real fast, quality is the question.

Could be, I haven't tried it yet. I haven't heard that it was any competition against CCE on the web. Mainconcept seems to have made its way into the same arena but I haven't tried it yet either. So much to learn and is either really going to make a difference?

Guys, why look for another solution? It seems to me Rebuilder/CCE is just about perfect.

Save your nickles and pennies for HD. Soon enough..., when all our favorite movies are rereleased for HDTV, those 4 Gig DVD's are going to look silly, even the DL disks are not going to have enough room...HD-DVD or Blu-Ray will be needed, not to back up 10 of today's movies but to give us a pristine copy of an HD version of every movie we presently have in our collection...

Depressed already? or looking forward to that moment?

With CCE I haven't had any video quality degradation noticable on any full disc backup so I would be hesitant to switch at this point.

I have been doing a lot of complete backups without stripping lately because anydvd puts the movie first without any editing by checking a box. That gives me the convenience skipping the ads and menus while keeping everything if needed. I just hit menu.

And then you will be using Rebuilder/CCE to make your HD sources fit on DL discs!

jdobbs, do you anticipate a Rebuilder/CCE for HD? That would be interesting.

You would think it will theoretically be possible to fit a 15-18Gb HD movie on a 9Gb DVD. It still would be questionable, especially if blank HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD are competitively priced.

See, so many unanswered questions, how exciting!
