    brobear...
The main agreement comes when high levels of compression are required. It wins the quality race by a long shot.

I liked DVDCopy2 until I tried one of the older movies. That's where DVD2One really stood out. Since I was just using the DVDCopy2 trial, I decided not to purchase it on this basis.

It is interesting how we all approach the smaller encodes differently. It is nice to hae the software and knowledge from the pre RB-CCE days.

    Hmm!

Not so different, I began as a DVD2one man and I still use it on older movies when I need a quick backup at less than 20% or it's for my wife. My main backups are done with RB/CCE but again if I'm looking at low compression and on a recent movie then I use DVDcopy2, you just can't beat the speed and quality combo.

Sophocles...do I remember reading a post somewhere that you had a problem with DVDCopy2, and that you were having difficulty getting a response on it from Intervideo? Or was that another program, or maybe someone else I'm thinking about?

Doc you read right but it only happened on a couple of older movies and I figured that it was result of copy2's high bitrate compression on older movies that came with artifacts. But I still use it and when it gets it right it really gets it right. Its also useful for several other formats all of which have their use.

To tell you the truth I don't know if this is the largest thread or not but it is pretty big.

There's a lot of curious people that made it that way.

    Doc

The storm is north of me but it's a bad one for those in its path.

1)We all agree RB/CCE, whew! Finally!

2)DVDCopy 2 another great one, not so good with older movies.

3)Here's where it gets a little shakey. For me InstantCopy 8 used with DvdReMake, that app has amazing quality, but the editing ain't so hot.

4)Finally, I'm coming in with the new Shrink 3.2, the new shrink is absolutely a wonderful app and the fact it's free, wells, hats off Mr. Shrink

This is 4 months later, and after all the updates, and the dust has settled, this is what rings my chimes :)

BTW, I can't believe it, we're actually back on topic. ;)

The satelite weather map that showed Ivan made it look like the outside of the storm swept through your area - which would have meant a lot of rain and moderately high winds.

I think bigo is reponding to what you once called, my "stirring of the pot."

I'm agreeing with your choices bigo.

I was just kidding...both times. Big-O, I'm wondering about your opinion about Shrink? It is a good product with da and sharp, but that's 2-1/2 hours. Do you use it for shorter encodes?

There's this thread on CD Freaks that's trying to be the biggest thread on the net, and the deal was that nothing had to make sense. Here at least we mostly made sense, we actually helped people, and we had a lot of fun and didn't do it for the numbers. We got here naturally, but I say let's use this thread as our safety valve.

I agree - it's a good safety valve. I would really like to keep the "Are You" thread as an archive, also. The fact that it is a little messed up now is no reason to throw out its original purpose. I'm wondering if there isn't some house cleaning all of us could do?

I agree but I'd like to keep the "Are You Thread," clean a little longer. You weren't there when Vurbal, Donald, jdobbs, and I got into a debate over lines of resolution. Vurbal was going to lock the thread until we all got nice again. I started another thread (lines of resolution)just to take the pressure off this one. I have a feeling it's going to catch up anyway. It may already be in the top 5 or less and its mostly information.

Also! You may never know where Vurbal! Super Mod will be lurking! (Hmm! I wonder if siger hangs there?)

He's most certainly our mod and with us all the way.

The eye in the sky as they say.

Concerning transcoders, it seemed like new ones were being hatched fairly frequently. I haven't heard about any new ones. I'm wondering why there haven't been any new entries into the market?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the growing popularity of RB-CCE? It is becoming clear that RB-CCE has the attention of those serious about quality.
