I'm using Xilisoft DVD ripper and pretty much every other movie I convert and rip the sound lags the picture by sometimes a few seconds. Often its very subtle, but still noticable, and frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I am going to start using Xvids because i have had better success with those. Thanks for any help!
Try rip the whole movie to harddisk first and convert from there to see if things are better. Good luck!

In that case, you may try use another program (e.g. ImToo DVD Ripper). Also, if the time lag is uniform throughout, you may correct it with e.g. AviFixed: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AVIFixed.htm Good luck!
