when I burn using nero it will not allow me to slow down the speed I burn at. My burner is 2.4 and I would like to burn at 1x. I have only tried one dvd larger then 4.7 gig and it didn't work. the movie began to play and then locks up or it will quit playing. any suggestions?

I apologize in advance if this question's lame. I'm a newbie and I couldn't find this question anywhere. I have heard that when copying a DVD you have to remove subtitles, director's commentary, etc. Is this true? What if you want to keep some of that stuff? A friend told me he tried but the sound and the video wouldn't sync no matter what he tried and the guy's an IT tech with lots of experience with computers.

if the movie is under 4.3 gig then you can keep the whole movie, if it is over then you have to eliminate stuff so it can be written to one dvd. dvd's over this limit are dual layered
