the adapter does it automatically.it scans all wireless signals in the area and once it finds the signal it will automatically connect(if there is not a password or that)

im going away for an hour so post up your quetsions and ill answer them when i come back.

    Thanks for your help mate!

If there isn't any signals what can I do? If there isn't any wireless internets around?Even though the office has and they might protect it in the future.

if there is not any wireless internets around then..youre buggered.
im sure the office will start issuing passwords to its staff in the near future(if youre unlucky)

probably as there is no object for the signal to go through or around eg walls.

what up i was thinkin bout gettin a new wifi pc card ,maybe super g (108 mbs) or pre n (? mbs). but i dont really need one my laptop has built in broadcom a/b/g and BT and it has served me well. My claim to fame is proboly 500kbs download with bitcomet ,@ 54mbs and full signal strength through a neighbors router ,but normaly iam pullin 11 mbs very low or no signal strength. 11 mbs is still strong enough to stream youtube so iam satisfied.

anyway dont want to fip topics but , may just findin some tweaks or new firmware for the card i have. let me know

Ok i'm confused about this wi-fi stuff. I just bought a new laptop with wi-fi built in. I also bought a router to use my laptop wirless. Are you saying if i'm sitting outside in my car and my wireless router pick up someone else's service i'd get in trouble eventhough i'm within my own range or is that even possible?
