ya i guess i will have to stick with it..so what do you think i should do if memtest reports its all alright?
Rosewill PSUs typically work fine to start with, then after a few months go snap, crackle and pop and destroy half the components in your system.
oo ok i see how it is..so i guess its the same with the psus from like raidmax and sunbeam and all of those other cheap companies? i wasnt really looking at the brand name...i was just following reviews and a decent price range thinking it would do...its not really in my availability right now and to have blown 50$ like that and not being able to do anything about it is making me beat myself in the head. I know its a matter of when it will go but do you think I will even be able to get a year out of it?
It could last two years, it could last two weeks, there's no way of telling. Most cheap companies are the same as they use very poor quality electronics inside which can't stand up to the power a PC uses, especially not a quad core. Sunbeam and Raidmax certainly fall into the same category. The two cheap PSU brands that are acceptable are the Antec Earthwatts and Corsair CX / VX series, very little else.
alright that makes sense...just an update on the freezing..it seems to be happing if i leave it for an amount of time such as 10min to all day..i will come back..be able to move the mouse but its frozen. Any ideas?
I'm using 32 bit vista home premium sp1 on an acer aspire 6920 and i seem to be having a very similar problem. I'll be using it and it will randomly freeze in various programs about once every 2 hrs. Any ideas? Thanks ahead of time
first do a mem test free from microsoft then do a harddrive test free from maxtor then if they are both ok reinstall vista from scratch then LISTEN to sam morris and get a better psu it's too low powered
ya i will do a memtest this weekend. i cant get to it right now. and i no the power supply is no good but 450W is more than enough. and just an update on the freeze. It doesn't do it at all if it is left in sleep mode. but anything else such as locking or a fresh boot it will randomly freeze.
I don't know, there have been a lot of mediocre Enermax PSUs in the past. Stick with a Corsair CX or VX, Antec Earthwatts or OCZ StealthXStream.
alright sounds good...btw thanks for ur help sammoris...to bad thers no more people on here that have your knowledge!
That's not strictly fair, there are a lot of people on here who could have helped you out here - I was just the one that happened to respond
haha thats true..but i like talking to one person because they understand the problem more but thanks to the other people as well! by the way how is this? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371006
That's the more powerful version of my server's power supply (the 380W) A Core 2 Duo, X1900XT Graphics card (uses more power than a HD4850) and five hard disk drives, so far so good
alright so i have narrowed the problem down to this. It will not freeze at all if it is left in sleep mode, but once the computer is turned off and turned back on it will at some point in time randomly freeze. What do you guys think?
alright i ran memtest...did each stick seperately and then all of them together..reported 0 errors. u think it is vista just being retarded? what about if i put on 32-bit?
