I think a decent Pentium 4 CPU, a decent PSU and a 7600GT will give you some decent gaming power for a while.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116004

With the 3GHz Pentium 4 you will see a GIGANTIC difference from your 2.8GHz Celeron D. The Celerons are the only processor I have NEVER recommended for someone. They are CRAP!

This is a DAMNED fine PSU and probably one of the best ever made. It has a near-flawless record and some very decent power output.

The 7600GT is about equal to a 6800 Ultra or an X850XT and will give you some pretty amazing performance for the price. It should hold you over until you can earn more money.

    :EDIT:

I noticed you are talking in pounds sterling. You should be able to find these on ebuyerUK. Just search using these model names: EVGA 7600GT, Thermaltake TR2 430W, and Pentium 4 631. Those should get you what you need.

    Happy hunting!

thanks guys for all your help, ill be on and update ya what ill get when i get my next pay check

@edit hmm problem, non of them match the products you showed me on newegg.com ebuyer is rubbish for cheap cards only does extremely good range like the lowest one fitting the 7600gt is at least £60/$120

kinda point less on a budget around £70/$140 lol i cant wait till next weekend

also im confused with psu's, they all have 20+4 pin why? why not call them 24pin and 20 pin much easier

    No problem.

Am I the only one who noticed you said you were on a budget?

That's why I didn't suggest a new build and instead gave a reasonable upgrade >.>

That'll get you BARELY playable gaming... and for FEAR the 6200 will leave you struggling.

    Try to keep 7600GT minimum.

I know it's hard to wait but saving up makes sure you get a more satisfying build in the long run. If you just go buy what you can afford you'll get your build fast but you will be severely disappointed.

And the Celeron D is NOT a gaming processor no matter the speed. The 2.8GHz Celeron D is about equal to the 1.8~2.2GHz Pentium 4 and will make you cry in ANY modern game.

A fast video card with a slow processor will give bad performance and vice-versa. Your system is only as fast as your weakest component.

kk... would it run on very low, i dont mind for a while but obviously i would need to upgrade soon after, i just scrapped my preorder of the psp slim as i can be bothered with it so i can focus on buying my new pc, ill still keep on the idea of buying the card first then buy a faster cpu, and i have to wait for £90 refund as thats all i have paid on it so far

He knows that that wasn't your PC, it's just that you mentioned having a Celeron D 2.8 GHz which equates to a P4 at 1.8 to 2.2GHz. Anyway if you think you are going to have some money soon I would just do a full upgrade. It's better to save up and build a new PC. Till then you have your 360(Did you get that fixed BTW?).

Cool, and it doesn't have a PSU so thats good. You can pick out a nice quality one. If you want to keep costs low just use the HDD and the DVD drive from your old computer.

You are going to use the same HDD right? What do you mean set it up on a network. I do a clean install if I use a HDD with windows on it, on a different computer. Windows tends to bog down after a while and that helps it stay fast.
