Win 7 won't boot with 8 Gigs of Ram

    what version is your bios, 5.17 or 5.29?

    go with the 5.29 as it has update with hardware diagnostics but don't think that is going to resolve problem. also you can make the computer into a doorstop if you screwup the reprogramming of the bios so you will have to decide as none of us can do it for you.

    Yeah I have enough door stops already. It sounds as if there might not be a way to overclock/Adjust the voltage on this machine. Am I right?

    It will run with 6G or 7G of RAM. Since RAM should be in pairs is if better to run it with 6G or 7G of RAM?

    Correct. FWIW, I don't think updating your BIOS is going to resolve the issue either.

    Anyway, I was under the impression you had bought four 2GB sticks of RAM, so how are you planning on running 7GB?

    For 2+ years I ran (3) 2GB sticks & (1) 1GB sticks. But I had always wondered why it wouldn't run with the full 8GB's. So I asked.

    jigdish, without seeing the machine 1 can't say yes or no but presumably no. 1 of the ram slots could be bad to read 1gig ok but not 2 gig stick or the ram controller to read that extra gig of ram could have a bad address line.

    I have moved the RAM to all the different slots. It will read 7GB no mater what slot the 1GB of RAM is placed into. So I'm assuming the slots are OK.
