i've noticed that my only problem is not with winavi. if i am playing a game after a short period of time, i am getting that "...has encountered a problem and needs to close message..." could there be some conflict or virus that could be causing the problem?

Newbie here .... downloaded winavi - after tweeks works mpg to wmv but not mpg to avi. need to add dvix/xvid codec. got it at http://www.xvid.org/downloads.html - downloaded zip file "xvidcore-1.1.0-beta2.zip"

two questions ... which files in the zip are the codec & where in my directory structure do I place the files??

thanks for any help on installing codecs as I'm low on the learning curve
