window media player I get massage that the department is unknown

    When I try to run an avi file at the window media player I get massage that the department is unknown and if I try to run that file with the Bsplayer the computer stuck. It happened only at 3 files (part) of 4 at one movie. I have checked the file with Gspot and the codec is installed (mpeg-4).

    Could you give us the exact error message that WMP is reporting?

    I understand that... supposedly the error is caused by the same thing (and therefore the KB entry still applies).

    I'll look around some more and see if I can find some more stuff of help, though.

    Something I should have asked earlier: Which version of WMP are you running? (Help > About)
