Hey peeps, I recently had absolutely no problems burning DVD and CD on my Toshiba SD-R6472, with Nero 6 or 7. Then i recently installed CDR-Win as I heard it was a good iso burner. Since then, when i burn CD or DVD, the burn (in Nero) goes fine, but the disks are unreadable upon completion, i have tried reinstalling driver and firmware for the Drive, uninstalling and reinstalling it in Windows, and am not sure what else to try really. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers VonBairn
Hey VonBairn Using the same discs that gave you do problems before? When you say unreadable do you mean even the pc doesn't recognize/play them? Have you tried uninstalling CDR-Win then running a registry cleaner like ccleaner? You can also post you last Nero log and we can take a peek. Just be sure to edit out the serial # - usually begin w/ 1A,1C or 5C. You can find them here: Nero 6 - porgram files>ahead>nero>nerohistory Nero 7 - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory

Yeah i am using same media as before, had no problems. used nero clean tools, ccleaner. and checked the registry for cdrwin related stuff. its all clear. so i tried another burn, it completed fine. but when i loaded the disk back in the drive, it says "windows cannot read this disk..." I couldn't find the log file, it was a succesful burn, but here is the nero infotool information. thanks again and i hope this helps you help me! Hmmm not seeing anything really stand out in the log - AnyDVD can use an update though (not part of this problem) - but may be missing something. It sounding like a driver conflict - might be CDR-Win just don't know what that driver's name is to look for it. Try this boot in safe - put the disc in can it now be read?
I removed nero 7 with clean tools, and reinstaled 6.6.0.18, as it seems to be the concensus top dog. See my post above about trying safe mode to read the disc (a successful burn). That will tell us if it's the pc or the drive itself. You getting a few of these KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST and I'm thinking it may be related to the original problem. edit to add: what type of dvd's or cd's are you burning? Any video or audio that you can try and in a player?
Tried safe mode, using the disk that i burned, still couldn't read. Does this suggest the drive is knackered?
Sorry for repeat post, missed the end of your last one.Yeah i tried it in my panasonic DVD player (it plays all avi, divx etc) and no joy. I am stumped The drive still reads previously burned disks and other cds/dvds, its just the disks i am burning since the problem began that it wont read.
Yep I'm leaning more towards the drive now. If it can't be read in safe mode and can't be played in a player looking like the drive. Laptop drives ain't the best and this one sounds like it on it's last legs. Plus you've pretty much done everything to rule everything else out. Last option I can think of would be to try another burn program. You can use to burn the dvd's. If the files aren't an iso burn will the build mode. Give it a shoot - never know
I gave up and reformated windows XP, reinstalling everything from scratch. I loaded Nero 6.6.0.18, and the first disk burned to completion, no problem, it ejected, then i reinserted, and the disk is unreadable. I am assuming my burner is fragged. Even though it is only about 8 months old. Nightmare. Here is last Nero log (of successful burn!) that cannot be read/recognised. Yep laptop burner esp. can a nightmare You've really ruled out everything and still a no go. I'm thinking an external burner may be the way to go for you.
