whenever i download media and try too watch it or convert it, my computer freezes and shuts down the program i am curreently using with the media. it only seems too happen with media that is fairly up too date for some reason, if i download an older film or program it will work fine, anybody know why this keeps happening?

Could be several reasons. You might try reinstalling your codecs. Also, downloading stuff is prone to MANY errors, which would crash encoders. It's most likely the 2nd reason.

Try regsvr32.exe /u shmedia.dll to disable XP's video thumbnail shell extension. If it doesn't help "regsvr32.exe shmedia.dll" to put things back to normal.
