I have home video saved on my pc and want to burn to dvd. I looked and it is in windows media audio video file. My first question is can i capture my video to my pc in any other format than that. like avi. if so how?

I have read some other threads and i think i need to convert my wmv file to avi and then to mpeg-2. Is that correct? How do i do that?
This is my first time i have tried to do anything like this. I have read a lot of good info but still need a little help. Thank you very much for replies.

If you use Pinnacle Studio 8 or 9 you can capture DV or analogue video in avi or MPEG format, edit your movie and output to many sources, including direct to DVD disc.

As for converting from WMV you will need to browse through the software sections of this site to find a programme that will do it. Good luck.
