Windows Media Player not burning

For some reason WMP will not longer burn for me.

I even updated to version 10.

The program is not reading my DVD-R drive for some reason, though I can burn movies fine with Decryptor and Shrink.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi vsp,

I think this maybe a 'Windows' limitation, the same is true if you try to send files to a dvd. It works fine with CD burners but not with DVD burners.

Decryptor and shrink are dedicated dvd programs that have the correct drivers/instructions on how to read/write to dvd whereas XP doesn't.....yet.

Scampus is correct. Windows IMAPI can't burn DVDs :)

i had disabled the IMAPI thing under administrative tools.

This is the best I got.

Are there better free burning programs out there so I no longer have to use this if it is no good?

I notice that some CD's I burn with WMP will leave out the 8th or 9th track for some reason...

New version of WMP is more than likely the problem m8. It takes time to get all brand name burner support. I personally endorse EAC (Exact Audio Copy), a free program or Easy CD DA Extractor 7.0(not free) for extracting, ripping and buring audio. You can try and "manually" extract the two wave files from the dvd-r using IsoBuser :)For backing up dvd's, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink will get the job done. For burning data to a dvd-r, I ise burnatonce.
