I just got the windows Vista package and i have begun to try and convert AVI to dvd like i always have - using dvdsanta, Nero, and convertxtodvd etc.

    BUT...

I have loaded Gspot to tell me which codecs are all on my computer... and there are tons of them... that came with windows media player 11. Unfortunately i cant uninstall them because Windows media 11 is Vista's Default player.

Gspot says that there are conflicting codecs that are on my computer that will cause lots of crashes. GSPOT was right.

Its been crashing in all of my encoding programs.

How can I disable these pre-installed codecs so that I can just use the codecs i need and want.. such as AC3.. xvid divx FFDSHOW, etc that I download myself?

or any other suggestions? thanks! :)
