Just recently purchased a new laptop with Vista installed. It has a cd\dvd drive but won't play dvd's. I keep getting the message that I need a mpeg-2 plug-in but a microsoft's site they want to charge for it. Is there any safe free ones out there?

Click on the Downloads tab at the top of this page, and look for Codecs. Install one of those, reboot your pc and try again..... and yes they are free. :)
