My computer was running slow, due to spyware that wouldnt come off my computer and other errors. So I tried system restore, back to Dec. 1st. When the computer rebooted itself, it got past the Windows XP Logo screen, then just a black screen pops up, with my mouse pointer, which i can move around, but it just sits there.

    Any suggestions?

when booting up, hit f8 and see if it runs in safe mode. Then back everything up and reinstall windows.

I have tried booting up in safe mode..same thing happens
only in safe mode, in addition to the black screen, I have the little 'safe mode' words on the corners of the screen.

    anything else

then my guess would be some issue with your video card, or drivers for it. Ask ddp for help on this one.
