windows XP not starting.

    i tryed to find the answer in forums but couldn't.
    i home pc wont start windows! it displys the message about power failure(or something else) and that pc is suth to save files.
    ofering diferent options to start pc (safe mode, networking mode and others).
    i have seen an ingineer at my friends place going into set up(pressing DELETE brfore start) system and fixing it but i dont know that to do once i am in that section. can anyone explain it to me?

    p.s. engeneer say that friends hard disk was stuck cot it was not properly shut down.

    What kind of computer do you have?

    In the list of options, does "Start Windows Normally" work?

    it is xp windows (some tesco selling brand)
    "Start Windows Normally" does not work.

    What do you mean "does not work". Does it restart, display an error message... ?
