    I see from other posts that this is good for capturing video from camcorders via firewire.

    Once this has been done is it posible to use this software to edit the video or is there other software that you can recommend.

    WinDV only transfers video from MiniDV and Digital8 camcorders. You need to use seperate software for editing. Your PC should have Windows Movie Maker which you can start editing with.
