I have a program thats been compressed with WinRaR that doesn't want to extract. The error message that I get is "Total Path and file name length must not exceed 260 characters"

I have tried renaming the *.rar files themselves to shorten the name down but....heres the problem.....the original rar file that I just finished renaming is shown in the compressed rar file thus its as tho there was no renaming that took place. My question is two fold.

Firstly, is there a way to rename what is showing up in a zipped file.

and second if theres no way to rename something thats within a zipped file is there a program that will allow me to extract these files??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You.

I get that all the time. I checked "do not extract pathnames" on the advanced tab of the 'extract to' window. It will decompress everything into the desitnation path you choose.
