D Link router with virgin broadband.

Packard Bell notebook unable to get online, wireless networks detected although no internet connection can be obtained.

    Confused! Where to start?

Built in wireless on laptop, something is up with the settings.

Does anyone think they know where to start or what settings I may be missing?

    Thanks a million.

can you connect with a wired connection? try the wired connection and check all the router settings. if any of your security settings (wep, wpa, etc.) are enabled on the router try disabling them and connecting with your wireless. can you connect now with the wireless? if yes it's your security settings, if no then your issue is with your laptop wireless nic. try mr del's suggestion of uninstalling your wireless driver and doing a reinstall.
