    Run IMGBurn.
    'Tools'>'Drive'>'Check for firmware updates'

Then verify that you are using quality disks - Verbatim come to mind.

thx 4 your speedy respones Attar

im using Sony DVD-R disc's but i have got VERBATIM DVD-RW disc's which my writer shouldnt have a problem with.

ive checked for firmware updates and this is what it says :-
    SONY DVD RW DW-D56A - PFS2, PFS3 (Sony OEM) / PDS6, PDS7 (Dell OEM)
    (Known Firmware: PDS3, PFS1, PYS1)
Use LtnRPC to reset or disable the Region Counter. Click Disable and your drive will be region free!
    OEM Liteon SOSW-852S
    RPC-2

what am i supposed to do with that??? download LtnRPC and disable the region counter? and what differance is that gunna make 2 my POWER CALIBRATION AREA ERROR???????

It looks like you already have the latest (only) firmware for that drive.

The power calibration error often shows when a burner is trying to prepare a disk for burning.
your model drive can burn at 2x maximum and some disks cannot be burned at that low speed.
If you have a RW disk (which burn at low rates) try that.

uninstall roxio aand then get the roxio ZAP tool to get rid of bad files left over, this app is known to cause hassles with drives due ti its drivers, it may have hold of it? not letting other apps do the full job.

whats the id code of your dvdrs?

Roxio's plain horrible, get rid of it completely. Use Nero or ImgBurn instead.
