Hi Friends! Each time I try to upgrade windows media player to 11, my computer verifies my copy of windows is legit, which it is, then it says unsupported OS your computer must be running windows xp media edition 2005 or later. Which I'm sure I am. If not, is there any way sort this out? Thanks for your help!

I have not heard of this problem before, but I found something at the Microsoft site that may help:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/installation.mspx

About the 7th question down is "Why doesn't Windows Media Player 11 Install on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005?"

Expand this and it has links to 2 pages about "Update Rollup 2", which will supposedly fix this. But,

I am wondering if you rebooted after updating to service pack 2. As far as I understand it, Service Pack 2 should have taken care of this. Do you have all the latest Windows XP updates?
