I want to perform a system restore in my HP windows XP but the system says that can not be done cause drive J:\ is discconected or is turned off.
Can someone please help me fix this problem,I want to do this to see if that way Boolhound 21 stops, it keeps comming on and Symantec end point protection does not stop it,I have to do everyday a symantec scan to quarantine them, some times I get 3000 of them a day.

    Is the drive spinning up?
The drive could of gone ugly on you.

That's the biggest problem with system restore. If the drive dies all the data is gone.
Hopefully you made a backup using a third party backup utility on a separate drive.

Bizarre problem, got me on that one.

Have you done a search for a similar problem?

Maybe somebody else will chime in.

try doing the system restore thru safemode/administrator not safemode/your name.
