I don't even know if I am posting this in the right board...if not, apologies, and maybe someone could direct me to the correct place. I am using WinXP and Nero Vision Express 3.SE, which I downloaded free. I have tried following the instructions posted by alkohol, but I think I must be using the wrong version. There is no 'DVD-Video' option as noted a couple of times in the instructions, just 'Video-CD.' It did start to burn the first .avi file, which was only 40 mins long. Before completion however, it spat the disc out and I got an error message. Am I right in thinking I do not have the correct version to make DVD discs I can watch on any DVD player? I am quite happy to purchase the full version. Please can anyone tell me what is the best version for converting mainly .avi files? Many thanks
you can download the latest trial version of Nero 7.5.1.1 from either Nero.com http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-demo.php or here, http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/ I think you'll like this program, two recommendations, choose a custom install, and do not install InCD, (a direct to disk writing program which causes lots of conflicts.) and disble Nero Scout, a resource hungry file finding/managing program which has little if any use. Let me know if this helps you.
It also may be because you do not have the DVD-Video plug-in with your free Nero. It is provided in the full version but not in free versions or some OEM versions. You can buy the full version or the plug-in seperately here: http://nero.com/enu/Products.html I'd use ConvertXtoDVD for .avi>DVD conversions. It's much less expensive and works very well. http://www.vso-software.fr/
