I have been working on this for about a week now. I have searched and did not find much on this.

I did upgrade the firmware from JWS5 to JWS6. I have also tried other media: Memorex, Verbatim and Sony. Nothing helped.

    memorex
    speed 8x
    size 3371mb
    total time 34:47

    verbatim
    speed 16x
    size 3142mb
    total time 32:26

I did try to call Memorex tech, but there sys has been down now for a few day. So there is no help there for me. So I come to the true experts at Afterdawn for help.

Below is a log for the Verbatim 16x burn. I can post other logs if you need to see them, I have 6 that I have saved.

This is for the log below. It should have burned in about 4 or 5 minutes, should it not?

well you've come to the right place for proper help :)

    - i believe that's up to date..

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix it via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - what on earth's happened there, 512mb is sufficient but you've got virtually none free. coupled with DMA being OFF doesn't bode well for burns at all.. make sure to close down way more programs prior to any burns

    - very nice Verb 16x +R's there..

    - good grief, i would not go that fast myself, even for data. and for movies no more than 4x

Get the DMA sorted and make sure sufficient memory is available. Oh, and stay away from junk landfill Memorex media!, they use widely differing quality in disc manufacturers and it's a lottery as to what qulaity you pick up each time. One week it could be good stuff, the next it could be utter atrocious rubbish quality discs and you wouldn't know just by looking at the packaging...

DMA was ON on both Primary and Secondary Controlles. So I uninsalled them and rebooted.

It worked, Im now burning at full speed.

Thanks creaky for your fast reply and solution to my problem.

Cool, you're welcome, however don't underestimate bad media, I guarantee further problems otherwise.

    Tweak & burn
