I so need help! I have a Lite-on DVDRW LDW-851S my firmware version is GSOP I have burned alot of dvds with no problems till now must have made about 20 costers in the last 3 days. Here is my nero burn log can somebody tell me what the problem is. I think it is the DVD_R Benq 8x disks I have been using, so yesterday I went out and bought fujifilm DVD-r 4x but am getting the same error, my burner manual says it is supposed to like fujifilm although my nero burning log disagrees. Thanks in advance

First thing I noticed was 127mb physical memory. You might want to think about a memory upgrade and also make sure you have no running processes in the background like screensavers, wallpaper, etc.

Thanks I am aware that I am running on min resources I have no screensavers running everything including the internet is shut down for the burning process. Ram is high on my shopping list. Since I have been having problems I am wondering if it has anything to do with firmware? all the zeros in my nero log (I think means not able to read disks)I am not sure I am a newbie at this must of burned a 100 dvds before all of this happened. I have defraged and even formated my puter for a fresh start I have also been using "clean ram" before each burn. I appreciate the feed back!

Looks like your burning about 25 mins at 2x or so until it errors out.Ty go1's are some of the best media. Since it is actually burning, that should rule out firmware update needed.

Here's something that sticks out: [bold]Last address to be written: 2286143 (508:01.68, 4465MB)[/bold]
    That is pushing it.

Reduce your backup target, which ever programs you use to rip and compress. I use dvd shrink, and keep all my backups at 4360 mbs. Let me know which programs you have.

I use DVD Shrink 3.2 excellent program and when I have a difficult dvd I use DVD Decrypter. What do I change in DVD shrink? I took a look at preferences and it is set at 4464kb and in file I/O should I have (read 32kb blocks default is 64kb)checked marked? all of dvd shrink is set at defaults have never messed with it. Thanks you for the time you have spent helping me I am at a loss!!!

OK, You have dvd shrink. Here's what you need to do.

    Open up dvd shrink
    Edit
    Preferences
Click on the dvd-5,and scroll till it is custom
    Next to it,enter 4360.
    OK.

That's the only thing I changed from dvd shrink's default settings.

This reduced backup target may take care of that issue. It usually prevents a lot of issues, that's why I keep mine there.

Good news I am burning DVD's again but now I am getting the odd one that stalls while it plays. Could this just be the brand of disk or maybe even the DVD player ran a disk cleaner through my burner and dvd player. The burner seems to be working fine I installed another stick of 128ram and all my backups are being saved at 4360mbs

    Thanks Tracy

...more Nero log please, the clues are probably in there (even if burns were 100% successful)

    - v bad news, you've run out of memory and you're in virtual memory territory, ie your hard disc is swapping (thrashing too much)

    - if i had a penny for every failed/problematic burn due to memorex/cmc i would be very rich i'm afraid :)

    - anyone who works at memorex should be ashamed of all the bad press their sh*t media gets !. and it should all be removed from sale.

I have fujifilm dvd-r's to try as well as benq dvd-r's good thing I only bought a small 5 pk to try of the memorex!! Thanks

without buying more memory, you'll have to close more background stuff down to free up more memory.

I agree, you're going to have to get rid of some of those running programs or get more memory, but I also noticed that you are getting a Key Media Error. Try different media, maybe a firmware update on your burner.

Everything is closed down even went to msconfig ans shut down stuff in start up,do not use a screen saver for burning purposes. Good news though mothers day was yesterday and my wonderful daughter bought me a new dvd burner tried it last night copied 3 movies everyone of them turned out beautifully yeah!!! I am back in action again. Thanks every one for the good advice.
