    Nice job!
    I think you got this because it might have been a little fast. I usualy go x6 or x4. X4 is safer.Yes, good media is CRUCIAL for a succesful burn.

    here is something you might want to look into:

    http://erpman1.tripod.com/current/atapi-xp.html

    But if is not broken, leave it!

    As for those MR. DVD you had, I asked around and all i get is: Booooo!

    @cyprusrom
    Thanks for taking care of this while i was away from the thread. Media choice is very important to a successful burn. So is a proper or not corrupt ASPI. Looks like BreadC is doing fine without one for the system.
    It is best to do whatever you can to get burning again, and not spend a whole bunch of money in the process. Usually the cheapest fix is to replace media if crappy, and fix any software/firmware issues. Media is usually the cheapest and fastest thing to change/try.

    @BreadC
    Many would have given up and replaced the drive if in your place. You stuck with it, and now it looks like you will be joining the ranks of Good media users. Glad you are getting successful burns now.

    @Maxburn
    I'm glad you're back! I do what I can to help another AD-er, but my knowledge by far cannot match your expertise! probably some could "use" my help, but they definitely "need" yours!
    It is amazing how many people at the begining reject the iddea of bad media, when they present a log with CMC Mag, or "Mr.DVD", and you tell them they wasted some money on crappy discs.

    Thanks cyprusrom, but dont sell yourself short. You got BreadC burning again by doing what you said. Success. Thats all it takes. Get them back to burning by doing what you suggest, and in my book, you have skills.
    Check out this thread. Some ppl still dont get it with CMC.
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/232406
    We have a person saying the only problem with CMC is the firmware isnt correct, not the discs. I know, but this one belives this, and is trying to use psudo-science to convince everyone. I gave that one my answer. It goes something like this..PROVE IT.. LOL

    @Max,
    That is a funny one!
    I am always entertained by a thread like that regarding CMC Mag! Although, I wonder, could some people really be that ingorant, or they just start that kind of argument just for the fun of it?

    You're welcome! But don't get fooled by one Mr.DVD that managed to make it through the burn! Even the worse media ever can work sometimes. But if you are pleased with a 50% or less success rate and poor video quality, you can try more Mr.DVDs(such a lame name!:)!)
    Go to Best Buy if is close to you, or Office Max. OM has Verbatims 50 for $15!

    @Lara

    I don't know if Max is attednding the thread right now, so i will ask you really quick: what kind of media are you using? Your log shows DVD+R, but no media code. It seems that your drive doesn't like/recognize that media.
    Try some quality media. Once you use good media, I would speed up the burn to X4.

    If those Sonys are made in Japan, they are good media. but your burner does not like it. I know the version of Nero that you are running has been giving people problems, so you could try and get the earlier version that was much more stable and with no bugs.

    ftp://ftp3.usw.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe

    Are you trying to do a "Copy on the fly", or "Burn at Once"? Can you describe exactly what you are trying to do?
    If you want to switc to the cleaner version of Nero( I would recommend), use Nero Clean Tool from Nero website to uninstall Nero, do not do it from Control Panel.

    Yes They are made in Japan, and yes i was trying to use Nero Recode to burn directly fron DVD and then Nero will ask to insert a Blank Media, so i guess is better to save it at the hard disk first Maybe?...I will check with the other version that you recomended but i've been using nero since forever and i think i tried that version before, because i just updated to the last version with the hope of those "supposely bugs fixes" and I thought it was my only hope..I guess it got it worse

    Lara,
    Here is something I told to someone else:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    So, if you want to burn on the fly, the file should not need compression and should have a prformant burner able to read 2x faster than the burner. I would advise to copy the files on HDD and then burn the DVD. And yes,the latest version is buggy.

    Thanks Cyprusrom for helping in here while i was out. :)
    To have the best chance of success on a DVD burn, extract files to HD and burn from there with recode as cyprusrom suggested. I think a HD reads the data faster/better than from the disc copies. I used to get coasters whenever i tried copy on the fly, and now i dont even try that way anymore. Most of the time i use anydvd and clonedvd2. Movie goes in one drive, blank disc in the other. Its always good to have an alternate method of ripping using different software. Nero is a great program when everything is working right. It can be very tempermental. Sometimes when we suspect Nero is the problem, trying a non-nero burn tells you if nero is the problem. Dvd Shrink with DVD Decrypter used for the burn would tell us if its a nero only problem. You can Google for those programs if you dont have them.
    I like to use recode, clonedvd2 and dvd shrink the most. If i need to rip a movie that has too high of compression for my liking, then i will use DVD Rebuilder Pro. Excellent but slow program.

    Dont worry about bugging me. It doesnt bug me, but it does take me sometime to get back to a thread once in a while. The good thing is, someone will usually help you. Cyprusrom is a good example. Jumped right in here and started helping.. :)

    @LaraPR
    Use the version of Nero cyprusrom put up. We have been seeing all kinds of weird errors with the newest versions of Nero, and for many ppl going back to the last stable version fixes things. Also good media can make all the difference in the world. The Sony media, if MIJ will be Taiyo Yuden, best out there IMHO. Even the Sony MIT media is good, but the log is saying it doesnt like the media.
    Burn at 4x
    use good media
    Dont multitask while burning
    Those are some of the basic things we suggest when someone has burning problems. But in your case, Nero may be messing with you on the buggy updates they have put out lately.
    Did you get your ASPI fixed? It can be either missing, or working, but corrupted ASPI will cause problems. You should see something like i posted earlier in this thread. Just check it with info tools to be sure its working properly. That and going back to the older version of nero is worth a try. Your firmware is up to date on that drive. Id try better media.
    You keep posting until we hear from you "success". Until then, we will keep trying as long as you do. Post the latest log on a failed burn, and we can try to find the errors.
