Using Verbatim 2x,Sony 500 ax,2one,DVDdecrypter, and Copy to DVD. No coasters whatever. Works every time. Thinking about 4x now. Has anyone gotten errors just from the speed of 4x? Problem is 4x costs $5-7 while 2x is about $2.

$5 for 4x? Where you shopping at homie?

I basically have the same setup as you. I've been using Ritek DVD-R's 2x. Been thinking about getting the 4x, but, I really don't see the need. Not yet anyhow.

Ritek has some x4 for about $1.70 each.

No problems at 4X. I've burned at 4X using Ritek and DVDPro media. No coasters and played just fine. I'd get the DVD+R 4X though if your drive supports +R media - the time to write the lead-in's and lead-out's are much faster than on -R media (about half - it cuts 3 minutes off my burn time)... oh, and I have a Sony DRU-500A.
