Tried to write on DL disk (8,5 GB), error while writing lead-out (in other cases - upon simulating lead-out write), claimed to be a hardware one:

Could be the disc is not compatible with the drive's firmware. Try updating it. The latest is 1.06
Here's LG's site - link - just type in the model #GSA-H55N under search and it will bring up a link.

Free up some memory too - close as many unneeded programs as possible - 89% of your memory is in use in this log.

You can also try burning at 2.4x.

All still fail then try another brand like Verbatim which is the best dual layer media.

Hmmm don't know if they have one for linux.

Have a windows pc you can pop the drive in to update the firmware?

I'd still give new discs a try too - the ones you have are mad by CMC and they are usually subpar.

    Hi,

can you use Imgburn, the best burning engine out there, and especially for dual layer discs.

I acknowledged about wine/cxoffice under linuz, but i unsure whether this works best with hardware. I prefer native linux apps.

Well I think your best bet is switch to Verbatim. Verbatim's are pretty much supported by most drives firmware well at least the 4x and under dual layer discs. So pick up some of those - w/o the firmware update I wouldn't recommend buying anything above 4x for dual layer and this drive.
