    it would just be easier to buy a lightscribe dvd burner and lightscribe dvds. i was thinking something a little less expensive. something that would just to help me write better.

    If you want to keep it cheap, then get some DVD labels and print on those before putting it on the DVD blank. If its DVD/RW then you can peel off and put another on when you change the content.

    Really, though, if it takes four hours to burn a DVD, i'd invest in a more powerful machine. That must be really frustrating! Or a faster 16x dual layer burner - the prices are really dropping at the moment.

    @pete
    cd/dvd labels are not recommended they will cause errors with the discs & create playback problems

    In that case, then stencils it is!

    Failing that really spoil yourself with an Espon phto stylus and print properly on blank DVD media....the results are really prfessional looking.....

    it really is frustrating, its not really the actual "BURNING" that takes the 4 hours, my dvd burner only takes about 5 minutes to write. it takes my computer 4 hours to encode. im not really sure what u mean by more powerful, i have 768MB of memory, the latest nero software, and a brand new dvd writer.

    That still doesnt sound right.....RAM obviously isnt the issue and neither is Nero. If I capture say 1 and a half hours of avi from a DV source, it takes rought the same (1 1/2 hours) to encode a VOB DVD file set. Mine isnt the fastest machine - I have a P4 2.66Mhz machine with 500mb RAM....

    There is a tool that you can run with the Nero package that you then send the output file to Nero customer care and they can confirm if you ahve a codec or other problem......

    Sorry that I cant be of more help than that...

    Pete

    pete is right it shouldn't take that long to encode, what program/s do you use? if using shrink make sure you are not in deep analsys mode also check that your dma is on
