    Hello,
Whenever i burn an image(entitled: disc image or saved project)
to a dvd+r dl in Nero Express 6,
the writing speed dropdown box becomes dim and unselectable
But you can still make out the word, "Maximum" as the setting

I ran Nero's InfoTool, and the only selectable read/write speeds for my burner was 48x.
But my dvd media's max speed is only 6x

What speed do you guys think it's burning at?
And why does the dropdown box go dim during image recording and not during making a data dvd or an mp3 dvd?
And during those times i could choose from more than just 48x

Try inserting the disk before starting Nero.
I see this at times when it insists on burning at maximum and it won't let me change the speed.

Do you think 8x speed is fine when burning a DVD9 movie?
What do you usually burn at?

Nero 6 maxes out on speed when burning DVD9s, recommend using another program to burn them. Try ImgBurn, it's free and works great for DLs. Here's a linky to the program.

BTW, I burn my DVD9s from 2.4x to 4x with an occasional 6x, depending on MID.

Alas, it didn't register that this was Nero 6 - mea culpa.
