Ok i just went out to buy Black Arrow and a live card for 12 month. Now my X-box has the Evox dash and a mod chip don't know which one though bought the system used off a guy. What i need to know is can i just revert back to original x-box dash sign up for live and thats it? I have read something about turning off the chip? How do i do this? What the worst that can happen if i am caught with a modded system on X-box Live?

You will need to turn your modchip off. It all depends what modchip you have got, so until you find out that you wont be able to turn off your modchip.

Do you just press the power button on and not hold it?

You might not be able to turn it off, depends on your modchip.

Think you are going to have to find out what chip you have by opening your console.
Dont go on live with your modchip on because you will get banned and will not be able to get back on without getting a new eeprom.

Are there actually any swithes outside of your xbox. This would suggest that you have a xecuter2 which is a very good chip. If you want to look inside then just take off the top cover, unscrew the hdd and dvd drives, take them out and you should see your modchip on the left side of your xbox.

There are 4 screws underneath the rubber feet, and 2 are underneath the stickers. Once you have unscrewed these the top should come off with a little bit of force.
