Hi, i have a 37" HD ready Philips LCD that i bought for my future HD hardware, my xbox 360 being the first, only problem is, my tv only has 1 DVI connection and the xbox 360 only comes with component cables, so i bought a VGA HDAV cable for the xbox and got a VGA-DVI adaptor, only problem is i cant get a picture, i keep getting the error saying, video mode not supported! I have tried tweaking the xbox setting, changing the resolution from 480p to 720p and 1080i, all of which my tv is supposed to support, yet nothing. Has anyone come across a similar problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

It could be an issue with analog - digital incompatibility. Your HDTV could have a DVI-D (digital) input and you're trying to feed an analog (VGA) signal into it. Doesn't your TV have any component inputs you could use?

    Anyone else got any ideas?

I've had the same problem. I have been searching on the internet for a solution since getting my xbox 360. There are custom cables that are starting to come out that are xbox 360 DVI cables. I'm not sure if these will work but i thought it may help.

You maybe able to find these cheaper but this was the first one I found.

I have got the same problem and my Xbox 360 came with a component HD cable. I went and purchased a VGA cable and adapter and had the same problem, no picture and message saying video mode not supported even though tried in PC mode. I then found this connector cable http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/269253/art/hama/adapter-dvi-male-3-cinch.html
I can now connect the Component HD cable to the DVI input and in theory watch the Xbox 360 in HD Mode. Guess what? No picture and a message stating "video mode not supported. I have taken my xbox to my friends and connected it to his Sharp HDTV and bingo it worked perfectly thro' componenet connectors. Microsoft can't help and I'm now waiting for Philips to respond but I've run out of ideas. Anyone else with any suggestions?

The Philips connection is a DVI-I connection. http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/37pf5520d_10/37pf5520d_10_pss_aen.pdf
