Xbox keeps locking in the middle of games, and the ring flashes red. then it displays error codes 11 and 12 not always together, can you please help me fix it?

Either a bad IDE cable or damaged DVD drive!

Open the console and make sure the IDE cable is plugged in correctly.

    It'll be the cable!

The cable when replaced worked fine for a while, and then games started sticking, so I tested a movie and it stuck as well. However the ring doesn't turn red anymore and there is no error code. We can eject it...the light just begins flashing.

Any idea as to what is wrong now

You can find them on the net, not sure where would still have them, but the best bet is to actually buy a damaged Xbox from eBay. Make sure it doesn't have a DVD problem and steal it from that. It will be cheaped then buying a drive, plus you get all the other bits as spare in case something else dies!

    ;)
