I've transfer files to my XBOX from my PC via FTP, but for some reason... this time it's VERY slow to connect to the FTP and SUPER slow to transfer files (less then 100kb/s), and I usally get like 9MB/s. I don't know what's wrong. I didn't change anything. I would appreciate your help greatly. I'm using a cat-5 cable from XBOX to router. I have DSL.

    Thanks

    I forgot to include...

When trying to connect to the XBOX FTP, it takes FOREVER and sometimes says connection lost, but when I do get to connect ...the speed is so slow for transfering files to the XBOX from PC.

Are you using a 10Base-T or 100 to connect the two? I just upgraded to a 100 and the speed increased by 10x

It's always been 100/Full on the XBOX settings. I've never had this problem before, that's why I'm puzzled on what's wrong exactly._X_X_X_X_X_[small]I'm your Huckleberry.[/small]

Have you tried from another FTP client? Even IE is worth a shot as an alternative to see where the problem lies.

Do you have another PC you can try? How about FTP to somewhere else, still unreliable?

Id be tempted to blame a change on your PC as this is the most likely cause.

I tried another PC on the network, and I got the same results. I'm out of ideas on what may happen to occur this slowness. I've even tried CuteFTP, and no difference.

I greatly appreciate your guys help.

    Any other ideas?_X_X_X_X_X_[small]I'm your Huckleberry.[/small]

I have the excact same problem... Normally my network runs smoothly, np... However, when uploading to the xbox with any "normal" ftp app, I get a ridicolous low speed (around 80 kb/sec).
However... when using the windows ftp command line client, I get my normal speed... This is great for transfering movies, but not so great if I need to transfer a lot of small files in a lot of directories... Anyway, if this might work for you, here's how to do it:
    Open a windows command prompt
type ftp xboxip (i.e. ftp 192.168.2.54 on my system).
    log in
use the 'binary' command to switch to binary
some commands give problems, you have to use 'literal', i.e. to create a directory use
    literal MKD dirname

    Hope this helps...

I never had a problem using FlashFXP, but all a sudden I try to transfer couple of files, and I notice this insane slowness. I don't know what hell has changed, but there is sure a difference.

    Hey Holliday.....

Just wondering if you had found a solution to the transfer speeds slowing down. I have just recently been encountering this same problem. The transfer will start out at 9000KBps and then slowly get down to 1900KBps.
I am running a direct connect from PC to Xbox with a crossover cable....

I just replaced the cat5 cable, and it works now. I guess the cat5 cable I had went bad or something. I don't know.
