Xbox Live combatibility

    can u use the chips and still play xbox live?

    The way the live system works currently:

    Marriage Theory: When you log onto live for the first time, your eeprom + hdd info (serial or something) gets logged on to the server. If for any reason you log into xbox live at a later time with the same eeprom + different hdd, you will get banned.

    The current chips are all able to be used on xbox live, you need to select the retail bios, or put the chip on disable etc.

    If you are planning to use a bigger hard drive on a system that has been on live before, then you must obtain a new eeprom for that version xbox. Or put in the original hdd everytime you want to use live.

    If the systems never been on live yet or you are using the stock hdd on your modded unit, you have nothing to worry about, as long as you make sure you boot into the MS Retail bios. (the dashboard looks totally different so you should be able to tell :) )
