Hi I was wondering if it would be possible to burn avi, mpeg, movie files
to a dvd and playback on xbox media center. Like have a bunch of movie
files on a dvd,not in dvd format just regular various movie files, like
mpegs and avis and others. Would I need to update to the latest xbmc?
Would this work? Would there be a size limit on a movie file?

That is exactly what XBMC is for. You can do that (6 films on 1 Disc in AVI format) or you can just Buy a couple of HDDs for your PC, network them to the Xbox and have an entire library at your finger tips, no need for discs ever again! I have 900+ films on my HDDs. The XBMC library catalogs them, gets the IMDB info for them and the DVD covers. Then I just click 'Play'.

Works for TV shows too, I have entire series on the HDDs!

XBMC also reads data discs, meaning no need for menus, changing video format, etc. It's great. I think any version will do it too, but i'd say upgrade, it's really easy and well worth it.
