    hey, like i said, i respect your decision. plus, it means you don't void your warranty in case the xbox screws up (assuming it's still under the warranty period). to each his own, i say :)

    umm sounds like you trying to exploit the xbox yourself cakefoo

    the xbox was designed with one thing in mind...playing games!
    and if you dont want to modify it use a friggen pc

    Exploiting it myself, yes, but only if it's legal.
    i would like to know if there is a way to modify the xbox "legally" to play wmv video.
    edit: and each step to mod the xbox must be proven legal to me.
    I doubt it's legal... so i won't touch it...

    well, for that, i'd need a dvd burner, and rather than burn at 8x dvd (the fastest i've seen), i'd rather burn it to a 24x cdr, compressed-
    any legal way to put a media player program onto the xbox?

    well, hmmm, they'd track my ip from this forum, then they'd come to my house, check out my xbox, and throw me in the slammer, and i'd be martha stewart's bitch.

    i don't think that they would go through all that trouble for one person do you? while there are prolly thousands people on this forum with modded xbox's.

    id say 1 in every 4 xboxs are modded

    If you play a modded box with xbox live you get
    banned and cant play again but they dont send the cops over to your house. Costs too much to enforce these kind of things

    good to see your being so loyal to microsoft

    most good dvd players play all your formats these days
    including compressed wma etc
    even on cdr
