naw, i've gotten my retail xbox hard drive backed up, made the cd with the make-win-iso, and i've got a spare pc setup with a blank pc hard drive(to be put in xbox), but when i try to load the cd the computer reboots after i get past the first xboxhdm screen. thats where i'm stuck.

Could be a bad copy. Could be bad Media.

I would redownload xboxhdm 1.9 and start over from scratch. Could just be a bad disc.

Make sure that your hd is set to master, and then unhook your hdds that are in your pc. Also remember that the master is the last on the IDE chain.

It could also be a problem with your PC itself. Try on one of your mates PC's. If you have the same problem, it is the disc. If you don't, it is your PC.

    Process of elimination.

yep. xboxhdm will lock it, or so it says. but configmagic will say it is not lockable and the xbox will say it can't unlock it or can't lock it it. but people with same hdd have had 100% success. its a seagate st380013a.

I had this EXACT same problem.

Are you sure you used the correct eeprom? Use the one in this folder.

    E:/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/backup/eeprom.bin

Create a new disc using this eeprom.

This one worked for me. This is your xboxs original eeprom that was backed up when you softmodded your box. The one that Evox backed up was the softmod eeprom. So xboxhdm locked it with the wrong eeprom, and then your xbox can't unlock it, because it is not the right one.

Just give it a shot. What do you have to lose?

Give or take, any eeprom you can find on your Xbox that you didn't put there will be the right one!

ok...the eeprom in the E:/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/backup appears to be the one i need, but when the jumper on the hdd is set to cable select only the computer can lock or unlock it and when its on master only the xbox can unlock or lock it. but i am still gettin the error six message from the xbox at start up. i know theres somethin i'm missing. i dont wanna give up with this hdd cause i know it is compatible with the xbox. i just need to figure out what i'm doing wrong.
