so i got hit with some virus recently, it has messed up my clock display in the taskbar and shows "Virus alert!" next to it. this also shows up on my AIM timestamps and anything else windows related that can have time stamps.

my cdkey got messed up. the windows genuine advantage starts popping up--i have a legit license that can download updates but now i cannot anymore.

i want to avoid reinstalling windows as i have a lot of stuff i cannot backup due to limited harddrive space and backup storage devices.

i've thoroughly scanned my harddrive and gotten rid of the stuff, so here's my question:

how do i get rid of the modified time stamps?

how do i change my windows XP key without format?
