Try to burn with XP´s own burner. If it burns then the Nero is guilty.

I have had the same problem. Formatted my hard drive, installed Windows XP. Installed Nero 6 and everything was working very well, as soon as SP2 was installed it all turned to custard. Uninstalled SP2 and working back to normal.

I reckon SP2 is the problem in this case.

    Cheers

    Boomhauer / jessmas -

let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    @jessmas -

    i see that's a logfile entry from XP's SP1..

    - my God that version is out of the bible, update to latest 6.x version, 6.6.0.18 (Update-Package 1) from here - http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

    - burners' firmware's way out of date if your burner is a retail Pioneer drive, ie 1.22 is the latest firmware for a retail Pioneer drive. However if it's a Medion OEM burner, 1.20 is latest firmware for your drive, see here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1754

    - yup, Nero's too old to recognise your burner, update Nero

    - DMA needs to be ON, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - try better discs; here's a couple links referencing similar disks -
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/226307
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/271141

    - hmmm, lucky considering the logfile..

Thanks for all that Information Creaky. Have updated Nero to 6.6.0.18 and is up and running.

My DVD Burner is a Pioneer DVR-107D version 1.13 so do I have to download the update for 1.13 or can I go higher, say to 1.22?

Thanks once again for the info.

    Cheers
