If I upgrade my xp or did a clean install to Vista, would I be able to use my restore disc that came with my computer?

Just in case something goes wrong, I can restore it back to windows xp and get my drivers.

The answer is NO. When you install Vista it modify's the MBR. If you remove Vista and you need to use your restore disc to install xp, it will probably work to install xp, but xp won't boot up.

But you can fix that by using a Windows xp installation cd and running a FIXMBR/FIXBOOT command to rewrite the MBR. Once the MBR is rewritten xp should bootup.
