xvid codec problem

    i use virtualdub to join,edit,compress avi video files but the problem is that to use virtualdub it needs xvid codec to fuction.my problem is when i install the codec i cant watch some(not all)avi files,it crashes.when i remove the codec everything is fine but i cant use virtualdub.

    help me!!

    try downloading/installing the newest divx codec. Bundled is an MPEG4 codec, that should handle the xvid, problem should go away
