Ive been following the XVID guide with AC3 sounds and have managed to convert some dvd with excellent quality (thanks to the help of this forum)

The problem i am having is the file sizes are extremely big. For example I did The Mummy Returns and entered the movie length in XVID Bitcalc and made it 1409Mb which gave me a movie size of 1089104. I entered this value in the appropriate section for the xvid second pass. However the movie sized finished ended up being 3.12Gb.

As a test i redid the bitrate calculation for a single disc and the movie size told me 366160. When i entered this value into the second pass setting and redid all the encoding. The final movie size came out to 3.12Gb as well.

It seems to be ignoring this target size option.

Can anyone help as to why its doing this of what to check.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dniel.

    this is an oversized problem.
did you noticed in xvid status window (the one with the graph bar)
is there any blue or red bar on the left most space ? if there is, that means it saturated with Quantizer 1 frames. that will produces big files.

try capping the I,P abd B frames all to min 2,
    its under Advanced options.

    and check out
